OpenAI Leads $43M Investment in AI Cybersecurity Startup

Cybersecurity startup Adaptive Security has raised $43 million in a Series A funding round co-led by OpenAI’s Startup Fund and Andreessen Horowitz, marking OpenAI’s first investment in the cybersecurity sector. The company’s AI-native defense platform aims to proactively detect, protect against, and respond to AI-driven cyberattacks, such as deepfake social engineering. The platform uses AI to scan suspicious messages and flag risk levels, while also testing employees with AI-simulated phishing attacks and providing personalized training. Publicly launched in January, Adaptive Security has already signed over 100 customers. The new funding will be used to expand the engineering team to enhance the platform’s ability to defend against emerging AI threats.
